Hatch

I measured 24 squares of about 4cm (length and height) cut them out, and transferred different animal patterns into each square. I then ordered them by gradient which took a long time as many were moved around quite a lot, and glued them onto another piece of paper.

Section Composition

After printing off my edited version on GIMP, I traced it and used patterns from my own hatch and general hatching styles to colour it in.

(Additionally; the thick black sharpie lines are meant to be pure black but they seem to have come up spotty on the scanner..)

Draw

I used my phone for this exercise and drew four different views of it using thin black liner and sharpie.

Identity

My five objects are; a yoyo, paperclip, nail polish, Mini Cooper Decal, and an eggcup from above.

Touch and Draw

I made this on GIMP (which is a program like photoshop) from the black lines I previously scanned in referenced from my previously uploaded video. The yellow represents the pure sword (which eventually conquers shown by a small spark, reflecting a decrease in strength), while the red represents the corrupt sword which leads to its demise at the end where it fades out. Both however start out bright to show their energy.

Sectional Drawing

To get an idea for the sectional composition I did, I accurately drew this elevation of a tape casette and a side view of it using measurements. The scale is not 1:1 as this would have been too small, it is not entirely 1:2 either so perhaps 1:1.5

Section Squiggles

After watching the sword video, I drew the movements roughly using two different colours on a piece of paper. I then traced each colour and outlined in black pen to show up better when I scan it in. I am going to edit these lines on photoshop-like program; GIMP.

These lines are going to be the 'winner' of the sword fight and will be in yellow neon. These were taken from the man in the grey attire.

These lines are going the be the 'loser' of the sword fight and will be in a red neon. These were taken from the man in the red attire.

Section Resource

I used the following video to help me draw accurately the movements of the swords of both opponents. The slow motion was extremely helpful to see the movements properly.

Technical Individual Drawing Style

 Precedent Drawing from Ex3. Draw

I used the art style of Manga artist; Iou Kuroda as my technical alternative as I like comic book style art. Kuroda uses powerful brush strokes and cross hatching to bring his drawings to life and make them appear like they're in fast motion. His style of drawing is unstable and is one of the main reasons I like it. However, I decided to focus on his use of hatching to really define the different tones of my object and make it seem more realistic than my first, but still retain that ideal comic book effect. I like this style because it plays with the line between the real and unreal.
